Welcome to the hub for MANC (Mobile Accelerated Nonpostmodern Culture). Steve Redhead’s personal website showcases his long term work on the history of the global social, economic and cultural change from (what French urban theorist of speed Paul Virilio has called) ‘cosmopolis’ to ‘claustropolis’. Steve’s work analyses what he has labelled the tendencies towards claustropolitanism in the contemporary world.

The work of Professor Steve Redhead builds on fifteen books and hundreds of essays, chapters in books, articles, reviews, talks, presentations, podcasts and reports. Steve has held many Professorships and Visiting Professorships in various universities around the globe including in Australia, United Kingdom and  Canada.

Steve is Professor of Sports Media and Sub Dean Graduate Studies in the Faculty of Arts at Charles Sturt University, New South Wales, Australia. He is also a member of the Creative Regions Lab in the Faculty of Arts at Charles Sturt University and a member of RIPPLE (Research Institute for Professional Practice, Learning and Education) in the Faculty of Education at Charles Sturt University.

Steve has recently been appointed to membership of the International Advisory Board of the Teesside Centre for Realist Criminology (TCRC) in the Social Futures Institute at the University of Teesside, Middlesbrough, UK, and to Adjunct Professor, Graduate Studies Programme, in the Faculty of Graduate Studies, York University, Toronto, Canada .
